![]() ![]() For now, he’s behind the top four edge rushers. He still has the summer to put himself in a position to earn rotational reps this season. We didn’t talk a lot about Abor this spring in part because of how good Jackson was. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles wanted to try him there last year before he got injured. He has the physical tools to play that position it’ll just depend on how healthy he is and how fast he can acclimate. He remains one of the top candidates for the jack position and has been working with the defensive linemen, so I moved him here from linebacker. One of the most intriguing names to watch this summer, Melton participated in some spring drills but didn’t do contact. Jackson has all the tools to be a game-changer. He played just 24 snaps last year, so we’ll want to see the spring translate to the field on Saturdays. It was uncertain who would earn that spot entering the spring, but Jackson is forcing the coaching staff to play him more and more. ![]() The star of the spring, in my eyes, Jackson solidified himself as the fourth defensive end. He’ll be in the second rotation on the defensive line, and I expect a big year from him. He showed flashes of how disruptive he could be, and he continued to do so this spring. He had the most tackles of an Ohio State player playing less than 100 snaps last season. He played 79 snaps last year and had 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and half a sack. Want a second-year breakout candidate? Look no further than Curry. If he can be a consistent disruptive threat, national defensive awards and high first-round pick status are on the table for Tuimoloau. Now, he’s the focus of every offensive line and needs more consistency after two of his 3.5 sacks came against Penn State, though he did lead the team with 10.5 tackles for loss. Last year’s Penn State performance, when he had three tackles for a loss, two sacks, two interceptions, one touchdown, one pass breakup and a forced fumble, is something nobody will forget.
